What do you get when you purchase the app?
When you purchase PhoneFabulation, you will receive the app, plus setup instructions to you to connect your own services to PhoneFabulation. The cost per month is about $5 USD for voice generation and starts at $1.15 per month for the phone number, and you will be able to turn it on and off based on if you want to perform the effect. You only need the voice generation service to start performing PhoneFabulation.
What are some of the inputs and outputs of PhoneFabulation?
PhoneFabulation currently lets you input text:
- manually,
- via a fake notes app,
- via a voice recognition system,
- via any APIs (you can setup multiple and they will be checked simultaneously),
- via a fake video recorder (so you can shoot the performance of the trick and input the information at the same time),
- via the Versa Remote, and
- via ThoughtCast Actions.
The outputs are currently:
- voicemail greeting
- voice memos output (where your revelation appears in a list in a voice memos screen on your phone),
- voicemail output (where your revelation appears in a voicemail list screen on your phone),
- add audio to video (where the revelation audio is mixed in with a pre-recorded video of your choosing, and
- voicemail drops (where the revelation audio is silently dropped onto your spectators phones as a voicemail with the caller ID of your choosing).
Can I perform PhoneFabulation without any assistance?
Yes! There is a solo mode of PhoneFabulation where the information is input secretly by your spectators!
Can I perform PhoneFabulation on an Android?
You, as the magician, cannot use an Android. However, your spectators can call the number from any type of phone (iPhone, Android, even a landline if they still have one of those).
If I buy this app, I get it for free forever like every other magic app, right?
Well, no. Several of the services that make PhoneFabulation work require a monthly fee. We will provide instructions on how you can setup and connect your own service to PhoneFabulation. The cost per month is approximately $6.15, and this can be turned on and off as needed (so you aren't paying for it if you are not using it).
What if I don't renew the service?
If you don't renew and later decide to perform with PhoneFabulation, you will have to repurchase the phone number (you will need to choose another number) and you will need to re-enable the voice services (and potentially redo the voice setup).
How many Voicemail Drops do I get per month?
None, but they are $0.10 per successful drop.
Do Voicemail Drops work in my country/with my phone?

How long does it take to deliver the Voicemail Drops?
Voicemail Drops take longer if you are dropping more voicemails, but typically they can all be delivered in a couple of minutes. In our testing, the fastest one was sent was in 2 minutes. You can monitor the status and progress of the Voicemail Drops from the app to see how many have been successfully delivered.
Is there a limit to how many times I can perform PhoneFabulation per month?
You will have to check with the voice generation service you are subscribed to, as they charge per character used, but refill character packs are inexpensive.
What if I have a very heavy accent, or have a unusual dialect in my voice? Will it work for me?
The system was designed with American voices and light accents in mind and, as time goes on, the algorithm for creating speech will be improved as our speech providers continually improve their systems.
If you need a solution that is the best available, please email us about Professional Voice options, which is a per-month surcharge that, once set up, sounds 100% indistinguishable from your own voice. This is best option if you have a especially unusual tone of voice or a very heavy accent you need replicated exactly.

How long does the voice training take to complete?
Usually just a couple of minutes. Possibly longer if you have a thick or heavy accent.
Can I change my voice that is used for the reveal?
Yes! You can re-record your voice at any time. If you want to use several voices, we suggest having the voice training recordings (you talking in a background noise free environment for 1-2 minutes) for each voice saved on your phone, and then you can upload them and re-train the voice model as often as you'd like.
What is your privacy policy when it comes to the storage of my audio/voice files?
We use a third party service to do all the text to speech components of the app. So, we don't store any of your voice data on our servers, only the generated audio (and we only keep the most recent voice revelation and your "default" message).
Are there any restrictions on phone numbers?
No, but some numbers in specific territories may be more expensive or harder to obtain. If this is the case, we have some specific strategies to perform while keeping the costs low. Contact us for more information.
In what countries/territories is the voicemail revelation compatible?
It can technically be used anywhere in the world, but currently numbers are restricted to the United States and Canada only.
If you want to use the PhoneFabulation app with the Voice Memo reveal, Voicemail View reveal (where you play the reveal as a voicemail on your phone), or do the audio in video reveal, you can do so immediately without registering a number.
If you want to perform the Voicemail Greeting revelation and you are not in the United States or Canada, you have two choices for performing:
1) Forward your current cell phone number to your PhoneFabulation number,
2) Purchase a "burner" phone (a low cost/temporary phone) and forward it's number to your PhoneFabulation number, or
3) Sign up for a voip service, like Skype or OnOff, and, once you obtain a phone number, forward that number to your PhoneFabulation number.
Can I use my own number for PhoneFabulation?
Yes. The setup for this is explained in the PhoneFabulation manual.
How do I change my PhoneFabulation number?
You can do this via your account with our phone number provider.
Do I need to register a phone number to use the app?
No! You can use PhoneFabulation without using a phone number. Just tap "Skip Phone Number Setup" and you can use the app without a phone number, or setup a phone number later in Settings.
Can I get a phone number with a specific starting digit/ending digit/specific numbers in specific spots?
This is available through our phone number provider, and we show you how to do this in the setup instructions.
Why is my country's phone number not listed/not supported?
You can sign up for a USA or Canada number, then use your favorite compatible VoIP service to forward the number. Contact us for more information on how to set this up.
